Legal 500 Germany 2026

The new Legal 500 Germany 2026 guide was officially released in February, marking another important benchmark for the German legal market.

The guide is based on extensive research conducted throughout 2025 and reflects feedback from law firm submissions, client referees and independent market analysis.

Key figures from the research

The latest edition includes:

  • 89 practice areas covered across the German market

  • 437 law firms ranked

  • 2,410 rankings awarded to firms

  • 978 individual lawyers recognised

  • 24 new firms entering the ranking for the first time

The research team reviewed 1,478 submissions from law firms as part of the ranking process.

Legal 500 Germany Awards

The Legal 500 Germany Awards 2026 were also held in Frankfurt, recognising outstanding law firms and lawyers across the country.

Among the key awards:

  • Hengeler Mueller – Law Firm of the Year

  • Clifford Chance – International Law Firm of the Year

  • Petra Linsmeier – Lawyer of the Year

Why rankings matter

International legal directories such as Legal 500, Chambers and IFLR 1000 remain an important tool for law firms to strengthen their reputation and visibility with corporate clients.

The quality of the submission — including well-structured deal descriptions, clear positioning of practices and strong client references — continues to play a critical role in the final results.
