Why Smartiee

Built inside the legal market. Growing across international markets.

Smartiee started in 2017 as a founder-led legal marketing practice. Since then, the work has expanded from Russia and CIS markets to Europe, the United States, China, Central Asia and Southeast Asia, while legal and expert-led businesses have remained at the core.

Where we started

Legal marketing was the starting point, not an industry we added later

Smartiee grew from day-to-day work with law firms: legal rankings, PR, websites, content, positioning and the practical questions that come with selling expertise rather than products.

That background still shapes the way we work. Even when the project is international, digital or outside the legal sector, the starting point is the same: understand the business, the market and the evidence clients need before they trust it.

How the work expanded

From a local legal-market practice to cross-border work

The international side of Smartiee did not appear as a separate “global” proposition. It grew gradually through recurring client work, referrals and projects in new jurisdictions.

2017–2019

Legal market roots

Smartiee starts with legal marketing in Russia and the wider CIS market. The work centres on rankings, PR, positioning, websites, content and long-term external marketing support.

The agency develops inside the professional-services market rather than approaching law firms as just another digital category.

2020–2022

Cross-border work becomes normal

International demand becomes more regular. Clients from the United States and China continue to buy Smartiee services, while Belarus and Georgia become part of the agency's broader CIS and cross-border work.

By this stage, different languages, markets and business expectations are already part of normal project delivery.

2023–2025

Europe and Central Asia

Longer projects expand into relocation, consulting and professional services across Europe. At the same time, Uzbekistan becomes a major current focus for legal and business advisory work.

Website development, multilingual content, ranking work and market positioning increasingly connect across jurisdictions rather than staying inside one national market.

2026

Malaysia and Southeast Asia

Smartiee begins building relationships in Malaysia, particularly around Penang and its technology, startup and business ecosystem.

The approach remains deliberate: local relationships and practical understanding first, then deeper market work.

International work in practice

Markets become real through projects

We prefer to show the international side of Smartiee through actual client work rather than through a long list of flags or locations.

Cross-border legal work

Markets we have worked across

International without pretending every market is the same

Legal rankings, media, client expectations, website conventions and the way expertise is presented differ from market to market. Our experience across several regions helps us adapt the approach instead of exporting one template everywhere.

EuropeGermany and wider European professional-services and relocation projects.
CISLong-term roots in Russia and continuing work across neighbouring markets.
Central AsiaCurrent legal and business advisory work with a strong focus on Uzbekistan.
United StatesRecurring international client demand and cross-border project work.
ChinaRecurring projects involving Chinese companies and businesses working across markets.
Southeast AsiaCurrent market development and relationship building in Malaysia.
Why this matters

International experience changes how we approach the work

Market context firstWe do not assume the same positioning, ranking strategy or content format will work in every jurisdiction.
Expertise before promotionFor law firms and other expert-led businesses, credible evidence matters more than generic campaign language.
Multilingual thinkingLanguage versions are planned as part of the information architecture rather than treated as a final translation step.
Connected workRankings, PR, content, websites and digital visibility are stronger when they support the same market position.
Malaysia

The newest market is still being built through people and local context

Malaysia is the newest part of Smartiee's international development. We are building connections in Penang and learning the market through its technology, startup and business community rather than presenting it as an established office before it becomes one.

This follows the same pattern that has shaped Smartiee in other markets: relationships first, then projects, then deeper market knowledge.

Penang Current focus for local business and technology relationships.
Local network Includes business contacts such as Finn Chow, founder of Zarvin.
Today

A Germany-based boutique agency with an international working model

Smartiee remains intentionally compact. Strategy and quality stay close to the core team, while specialists and local contacts join around the needs of each project. This makes it possible to work across markets without adding layers of account management between the client and the people doing the work.
