On 18 August, Smartiee attended a PENtastic Startup Month meeting in George Town organised around the INFINITY8 and Digital Penang ecosystem. The event brought together founders and specialists from technology, digital business and related professional services.
Penang is often viewed through tourism and George Town, but its business base is strongly shaped by manufacturing, electronics and semiconductors. Global technology companies operate in the state alongside an established supplier network, which creates a different startup environment from ecosystems dominated by consumer applications.
AI is increasingly connected to that industrial base through automation, research, semiconductor equipment and software. At the same time, local programmes are trying to make Penang more useful for founders looking beyond Malaysia toward ASEAN markets.
For Smartiee, the meeting was a practical way to understand the local business community and explore where international B2B marketing, websites and professional-services communication can be useful in the region.
